Welcome to "Phil's Loco Photos"

Another visit to Alaska got the trip started; we flew to Vancouver and stayed there one night. The next day was an early start to take the Cascades Talgo to Seattle where we spent the next night. An afternoon flight next day with Alaska Airlines took us north to Fairbanks. After a free day in Fairbanks we then started our travels on the Alaska Railroad with the journey to Denali Park and on to Anchorage and day trips to Seward and Whittier for cruises to see glaciers and wildlife. We then flew to Juneau and after a night there took the eight hour cruise to Skagway via Haines for our time on the White Pass & Yukon Route at Skagway. We had two nights there which included doing a round trip to Carcross. Next day the train to Fraser and after a night there we flew from Whitehorse to Vancouver where I had a few hours before taking the Talgo to Seattle for one night. I then joined "Coast Starlight" for the 36 hour journey to Los Angeles. I had nine nights in Los Angeles to properly do justice to covering the hired in BNSF AC4400CW locos in use with Metrolink it was an absolutely brilliant experience seeing these 185 mammoth locos on full power on local commuter trains! I managed to do almost the entire network behind the fine GE locos. I flew back to London via Toronto
