Welcome to "Phil's Loco Photos"

Another trip to Alaska started with a convenient direct flight from Manchester - Vancouver and then one night there before taking the Talgo down to Seattle for a three night stay, in the afternoon we did a car ferry trip over to Bremerton and back. On the Sunday we did a round trip to Portland and then on the Monday we were out on the trains, I also managed to do the Sound Transit extension to Lakewood. It was then time to start the trip properly and we flew with Alaska Airlines via Anchorage to Fairbanks for our one night stay. Next morning we joined "Denali Star" for the long run south to Wasilla where we stayed one night. We had an organised visit to se steam loco 557 under restoration and then a visit to the Transportation Museum on outskirts of town, and then the train to Anchorage for our three night stay. Day trips to Whittier (in sunshine) and Seward followed the next two days, forecast of very rough seas left me on firm ground in Seward. Next day we flew to Juneau for one night and then a small single engined plane over the ice fields to Skagway and three nights there. One trip up the hill shortly after we arrived and the next day we thankfully managed full round trip to Carcross and back with the huge 114 on the front. The next day it was another trip with 114 up to the summit for some photos in the morning and then a pair of 101s up the hill in the afternoon. After some photos of the trains climbing out of town we took train 23 to Fraser and then the bus connection on to Whitehorse. The next day we did the tramway and then a visit to the Copperbelt railway and then our flight to Vancouver for a one night stay. A morning trip into Vancouver and over on the Seabus for a coffee and the back with the Skytrain and flights back home
