Welcome to "Phil's Loco Photos"

A one week trip to Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey for the PTG Tours trip covering a few lines in Bulgaria and Turkey and most of the lines in northern Greece. I flew to Sofia and we started with a visit to the depot in Sofia. Our train left on the Sunday morning but due to the 06 failing we had electric traction to Kulata and then premier MX627 MLW power all the way to Alexandroupoulis. Next day we continued east to Svilengrad with big MX636 power via the Dikea border crossing which currently has no service. BDZ 07 power took us to Kapikule where a DE33 (GT26) took over for the run to Tekirdağ via Muratli and a one night stay. Same loco next day and directly back into Greece via the Uzunköprü - Pythion border crossing and a different MLW back to Alexandroupoulis for our second night there. Next day we had a later start and yet another different MLW to Thessaloniki for two nights. The next day was up into the hills to the west and a long overdue climb out of Skydra with some Alco music, we went to Florina (in awful weather) and we made history being the first MLW to ever visit the town. We reversed and went via the curve at Messonissio to Neos Kaukasos where we were the first train for seven years! We returned via the third side of the triangle at Messonissio and then down the hill to Edessa for a walk around town and a break, continuing to Thessaloniki later. Our final day was a quick run north to Idomeni and back and then to Sofia via Strimon. Our seventh MLW of the trip and then an 06 to Sofia was a good finish. I flew back home next day
