Two weeks in Germany, DB and DR were running with little changes and many old 118 and 132 locos were sampled during the trip. Short trips to Denmark (managing three MZ locos on one train!) and Czechoslovakia

Two weeks in Greece, Bulgaria & Yugoslavia. The Greeks kept going on strike so we had to escape to Bulgaria and Yugoslavia twice. At Beograd I found 666.004 on the daytime express to Zajecar but taking photos in those times was extremely risky, at least I managed couple photos out of front window! Final problem was a taxi from Thessaloniki - Athens when OSE were on another strike!

Five days in Germany as visa restrictions for us to visit East Germany had been lifted (but were still in place for a few countries) and it gave the chance to make numerous cross border trips and photograph the DDR era border stations as they were without any problems at all

A three week trip starting in Germany and ending up in Greece. We went via Leipzig, Praha & Kosice into Hungary. A couple of days on M61s before on to Greece via Bitola & Kremnica. An attempt to do the Dikea - Svilengrad border crossing failed with three hours late running. Time in Greece was cut short when a 48 hour strike sent us fleeing to the airport. I flew to Roma and then back to Germany for more time there
